I dated a girl in college whose elderly maiden aunt dated Warren Zevon's Grandfather back in the late-70's/early-80's. My friend met Zevon, who at the time was on the mend from another purgation in rehab. Her verdict - he was "weird". Me - I always liked his quirky take on life. He was kind of a Tom Waits on acid - a slickly over-produced version of Waits more homeless/gutter-drunk character profiles.
BTW, in an act of heresy, I happen to prefer Waits to Bob Dylan.

Wow. I haven't heard that song in quite some time. Honestly, it looks like he's trying to contain a smile because the lyrics are so......you know.
