I love how simple your little world is. So black and white, everything with it's own generalized understanding, fully accepted stereotypes, and neatly categorized groups.

It's like you see the world through a Leave it to Beaver filter.

Jason, the day you have a thoughtful comment that adds to any discussion will be the first.

There's really not a lesson there, nor is it very humorous. It's another pathetic false comparison made by someone who reflexively opposes taxes.

Let's look at the bigger picture. What's good for the American economy? Shall we compare the economic health and security of the average American household today with that of, let's say, the same family in 1960? We would find that they were considerably more secure and had no worries about losing their homes, health care or pensions. The marginal tax rate on the wealthiest Americans was more than 90% not the puny 35% or so it is now.

The fact is that the higher the tax rate on the wealthy the better off most Americans are. Look at history instead of movies.

You guys are just completely missing the point here. To which I am just shocked. Shocked!

Hollywood types are constantly telling us how to be, including that the rich are evil and need to pay more taxes. The irony is that they talk about their industry the same why conservatives talk about all industry.

While this letter was very tongue in cheek, I think there's an important lesson there. And if you guys try really really really hard, you might get it.

The important lesson is that the competition among states to see which can lower taxes enough to attract industry has resulted in bankruptcy, sharply reduced services, and human suffering.

The middle class is suffering in this country not because of high taxes, but because of low taxes.

How do higher tax rates help the middle class?

Just got around to reading this. Amazing to me that Baldwin suggests lower tax rates.

Note that no one is suggesting lower taxes, just lower tax RATES and the result is higher taxes. I'll gladly paw higher taxes if my rates go down (and my income goes up).

The article is spot on.
