Tagged - Songs

I've never been tagged before, so I'm not entirely sure how this works. But thanks Ash. Here are a few of my favorite songs:

Tom Petty - Honey Bee

REM - Be Mine

Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, etc - While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Mana - Como Dueles En Los Labios

Soledad y Andres Calamaro - I don't know the name of this song, but these two are at the top of my Spanish favorites list, and they did a duet live!

Cameron,
I didn't know you loved Solidad. I do as well. I'll have to share a little priated CD we picked up in Uruguay while we were there. She got some great stuff.

I first heard Soledad in Salto Saladero. I actually thought she was a man at first. I think she was only 16 or so at the time, and she had such a deep voice. But I really like the "campo" style she sings.

Cam..your supposed to then tag people of your own to keep the game going....
Man, I thought you were the blog expert!

You didn't tag me, Cameron, but I will give you 5 of my favorites all the same:

1. Mack the Knife- Bobby Darin
Just rocking and has a little bit of danger in it, too.

2. Dawning of the Day- The Corries
A folk song of Scottish nationalism with many references to Scottish natural resources and animals.

3. Midnight Train to Georgia - Gladys Knight and the Pips
Great R&B song with killer background vocals...When I grow up I want to be a Pip!

4. Pathetique (one of Beethoven's sonatas..I don't remember the proper name)
Just a haunting melody that just sticks in my brain.

5. You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma - David Frizzell and Shelly West
Another tune, this time a country and western song, that sticks in my brain.

I have so many favorites representing all kinds of music that I could publish a list of hundreds of favorites.

Thanks Mark! As Ashlee pointed out, I failed to tag anyone, so I guess that means it's a free for all.

Wow Cameron I know you have no idea who I am but oh well I just got done venting on my own Blog about people who come look and never leave a comment so I guess the best I can say about your picks is interesting very interesting. In fact I find you very strage.
Question Do you have large therapy bills just asking.. You quite often seem somehow disturbed about the world in general and I feel the same way, but have always thought that the therapy it would take to correct it would be a bit pricey.

Wow. Favorite songs. There aren't enough blogs.

I suppose I could do it this way - five songs that I have listened to for more than a few weeks at a time.

1)June by Spocks Beard. Towards the end there's an organ crescendo mixed in with a vocal harmony that gives me chills. The song is pretty, but this one little bit, as brief as it is, gives me chills every single time I hear it.

2)Anything by Tom Waits. He's my Bob Dylan.

3)Another Dimension by Liquid Tension Experiment. Should be a template for anyone wanting to play serious heavy metal.

4)Mass in B Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. OK, so sue me.

5)I like real love songs that make me cry - right now, I'm listening to "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Still, & Nash.

Next week, except for the Tom Waits, this list would change completely.

Montay,

I appreciate all the wonderful compliments bestowed upon my humble blog, and humble self.

Please, come share in my insanity, I'm sure you'll have much to offer here. :-)

Geoffrey,

Thanks for the picks. I'm going to have to see if youtube's got any of them so I can have a listen.

Cam, I can actually help you out there. There is a live clip (bad audio) of the Spock's Beard song. The studio version is just better.

As for "Another Dimension", there is a clip, again with bad audio.

Tom Waits is everywhere.

"Southern Cross" has a bunch of clips. I've always liked the ending - it's very wrenching, containing one of Stephen Stills best little lines: "We cheated and we lied and we tested/And we never failed to fail/It was the easiest thing to do". That's always hit me, for a variety of reasons.

Other love songs I like are "Get Here" by Oleta Adams; "I Wish You Would" by Train; and "Could Not Ask For More" by Edwin McCain.

It's called work. And right now work involves auditors, who are the the nasty trolls of the accounting profession.

However, I'll do my best to write something so as to keep you entertained..
